What we require of
every candidate we represent.

Our candidate network is selective — and intentionally so. The standard we hold is what gives your candidacy weight with the families we serve, and it is why the households we work with trust the introductions we make. The following are the baseline qualifications for representation by My Household Managed.

At least 3 years of verifiable, paid private household experience after the age of 18
3 professional references from private service positions we can contact directly — excluding family, friends, coworkers, and non-related experience
Professional resume
Must be willing to make at least a one-year commitment to the position, unless the role is explicitly listed as seasonal or temporary
Minimum age of 21
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Willingness to complete a criminal background check
High school diploma or equivalent
Non-smoker
For childcare positions — current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to renew prior to hire

Our founder started this agency after working in private homes herself. My Household Managed was built to do this differently.

We do not ghost candidates

If you meet our minimum qualifications, you will hear from us. If you are introduced to a family and not selected to proceed, you will be told. Due to the volume of applications we receive to individual roles, we cannot provide updates to every applicant — but candidates in our network are never left without communication when it matters.

You will know where you stand

When you are shortlisted for a role, we will let you know. Timing in a private household search is deliberate — we present candidates when the moment is right, and we keep you informed as the process moves.

References are verified once

Reference fatigue is real in this industry. We conduct thorough reference checks one time during your screening — and we do not contact your references again for every new search. Their time is respected.

We only represent quality positions

Every role we accept has been scoped, structured, and confirmed to offer legally compliant employment, competitive compensation, and industry-standard benefits. We do not send you to households that are not ready to employ properly.

We advocate within the process

Before a role is ever posted, we pre-negotiate compensation to ensure it is market-competitive. During offers, we advise families on fair terms and reasonable expectations. Advocacy is built into the process — not performed after the fact.

Your profile is a professional asset

Accepted candidates receive access to an internal profile — a professional presence within our system where you can add your photo, credentials, and strengths in your own words. This profile is maintained over time, not rebuilt from scratch for each opportunity.

No. Our services are entirely free to candidates. You are paid directly by the family.
All candidates undergo a comprehensive, premium-level background check as part of our screening process. This is a non-negotiable step in every candidacy and is conducted at no cost to you.
Once. We verify your references one time during your initial screening. They will not be contacted again for each new search. We understand reference fatigue is a real issue in this industry and we respect your references' time.
Every application is reviewed by our team. If you meet our minimum qualifications, you will be contacted to schedule a phone screening. If you do not meet the requirements at this time, you will be notified. We respond to every application.
Not necessarily. Matching a candidate to a household involves more than overlapping experience — it involves timing, personality, household culture, and specific client preferences. Being in our network means you are considered as aligned roles arise, but not every search will be a fit, and that is by design.
We require a minimum of three years of verifiable, paid private household experience. If you are looking to transition into private service for the first time, we recommend gaining direct experience in a private home before applying. We are not the right starting point — but we may be the right next step once you have that foundation.
We are not a career coaching service, but candidates accepted into our network do receive access to professional development resources — including resume guidance and tools designed specifically for private service professionals.
We represent the full range of private household roles — housekeepers, house managers, estate managers, nannies, private chefs, personal assistants, butlers, chauffeurs, domestic couples, laundresses, housemen, newborn care specialists, governesses, and property managers. All positions are direct placements with private households or estates offering W-2 employment.
The screening process itself typically takes one to two weeks from your initial phone screen. After that, timing depends entirely on what roles are active and whether there is a strong match. We cannot guarantee that we will have the right position for you — but this is exactly why we encourage candidates to register early. Many of our strongest placements come from candidates we already knew and had a relationship with when the right search opened. By the time a role comes through that fits, you are already screened, already known to us, and top of mind.
Yes, you are welcome to apply. We may not move forward with a full interview if we do not have active searches in your area, but we will have an understanding of your experience on file. You will also receive our communications if a family is open to relocating a candidate or if a role opens in a market outside of our primary areas.

We do not require you to be actively searching. We require you to be qualified, professional, and serious about private service as a career. If that describes you, we want to know you exist.

When a new search opens, candidates already in our network are the first we consider. Many roles are filled before they are ever posted publicly.

Your candidacy stays active

You do not need to reapply each time a new role opens. Your profile, references, and screening remain current in our system as long as your candidacy is in good standing.
